Hazards specific to Galang Batang

Molten metal and slag handling
Alumina smelting involves tapping molten aluminium and disposing of slag at temperatures above 900 °C. Splashes, ladle failures, and contact with moisture-contaminated tools can cause explosive steam release and severe burns.
HF and SO₂ gas exposure
The smelting process releases hydrogen fluoride and sulphur dioxide as by-products. Both gases are corrosive to the respiratory tract at low concentrations, and chronic exposure causes fluorosis in bones and teeth.
Bauxite dust and silica
Crushing and conveying raw bauxite generates airborne dust containing crystalline silica. Prolonged inhalation leads to silicosis, an irreversible fibrotic lung disease, particularly in workers at the crushing and stockpile areas.
Extreme radiant heat
Furnace-area workers are exposed to sustained radiant heat well above ambient tropical temperatures. Heat exhaustion and heat stroke are immediate risks; chronic kidney disease from repeated dehydration is an emerging long-term concern.
Kiln and vessel confined spaces
Rotary kilns, reduction cells, and process vessels require periodic internal entry for maintenance. The confined-space atmosphere may contain residual CO, depleted oxygen, or loose refractory material that can collapse without warning.
Heavy crane and lifting operations
Smelter operations depend on overhead cranes and mobile cranes for pot-line servicing, anode replacement, and material movement. Load drops and crane-to-structure collisions are high-consequence events in the dense smelter hall layout.

Three official routes exist, each with its own legal basis, and they stand on their own, they are not tiers, they do not replace one another, and holding one does not confer the others. Working out which one is actually being asked for is the first step, before any budget is committed.
Kemnaker, Ministry of Manpower
Its role: Labour regulator
What it issues: OHS licences and letters of appointment
The obligation comes from labour law, Act No. 1 of 1970 and the ministerial regulations beneath it. This is the route a labour inspector checks on a site visit, and for roles such as lifting-equipment operator or OHS electrical technician, nothing else can stand in its place.
BNSP, National Professional Certification Agency
Its role: Authority for individual competency certification
What it issues: Competency certificates from a BNSP-licensed LSP
It rests on the SKKNI national competency standards, and the certificate is issued by a Professional Certification Body (LSP) holding a BNSP licence, not by BNSP itself, and not by the training provider. This is the route usually asked for at tender prequalification and in customer audits.
BNSPKAN & IAF, National Accreditation Committee & International Accreditation Forum
Its role: Accredits the body, not the person
What it issues: Accreditation of certification bodies, e.g. SNI ISO/IEC 17024
This layer assesses the institution, not the candidate. KAN accredits certification bodies in Indonesia, and KAN's membership of the IAF Multilateral Recognition Arrangement is what makes that accreditation recognised abroad. The companies that benefit are those whose certificates must be accepted by an overseas client or principal.
KAN IAFAll three stand on their own, and RTI issues none of them. Holding a BNSP certificate does not discharge a Kemnaker licensing obligation, and KAN accreditation replaces neither. PT Rindu Tenang Indonesia runs the preparatory training and arranges the competency assessment, while the proof itself is issued by the authorised body. RTI is not a Professional Certification Body (LSP), not an OHS Service Company (PJK3), and not an accreditation body. Mapping which one your site is actually being asked for comes first, and costs nothing at that stage.
