Background
Effective & Strategic Goods and Services Procurement
Goods and services procurement is a strategic function underpinning operational continuity and organizational goal attainment. Effective procurement goes beyond fulfilling supply needs — it requires meticulous planning, cost efficiency, precise vendor selection, robust contract management, regulatory compliance, and procurement information security.
In practice, Procurement Management plays a critical role in ensuring the procurement process runs in a planned, transparent, and effective manner aligned with organizational requirements. Adequate competencies are essential for personnel to prepare procurement activities, draft contracts, select suppliers, manage purchasing, plan budgets, and safeguard electronic information systems.
Accordingly, a structured competency development program referencing applicable national competency standards is needed. The Procurement Management Competency Training is designed to equip participants with the knowledge, skills, and professional capabilities relevant to the duties and responsibilities of Procurement Management.
This training is structured around the Procurement Management Certification Scheme, encompassing 6 (six) competency units, ensuring participants receive relevant preparation before undertaking the Procurement Management Competency Certification assessment.
Through this program, participants are expected to apply procurement principles and processes effectively — from planning and preparation through to purchasing management, contract administration, budgeting, and procurement information security.
